When Winter Storm Fern swept across the Southeast and midwest,
Service Electric crews answered the call in a big way
Scope
Supported a wide range of utilities in both distribution and transmission restoration efforts for 90,000 customers.
At peak response, 840 FTEs were deployed across Louisiana, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Indiana, supporting a wide range of utilities in both distribution and transmission restoration efforts. From major investor-owned utilities to electric cooperatives and municipal systems, our teams mobilized quickly to restore power in some of the hardest-hit areas.
Restoration efforts extended over multiple weeks, with crews rotating in and out as conditions evolved and additional support was requested. In several locations, crews balanced both on-system and off-system restoration work, coordinating closely with local operations to safely re-energize circuits as weather and system conditions allowed.
Storm restoration is never routine. Freezing temperatures, extended shifts, and rapidly changing conditions required flexibility, discipline, and an unwavering focus on safety. Across every region our teams demonstrated professionalism and resilience while representing Service Electric and our home customers with excellence.
Winter Storm Fern was a powerful reminder of what makes our company strong: the ability to scale quickly, support one another across regions, and deliver when communities need us most.
