through longterm collaboration with fellow quanta operating companies, Service electric is helping to strengthen the grid across florida.
Scope
Upgrading 500kV systems across Florida in collaboration with QISG.
Since 2019, Service Electric crews have played a key role in one of the largest transmission upgrade efforts in Florida—supporting a major utility’s ongoing 500kV program across the state.
Alongside multiple Quanta operating companies under QISG (Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group), Service Electric has contributing to a coordinated, multi-company effort to modernize critical transmission infrastructure. The scope includes structure replacement, foundation installation, access and material handling, fiber installation, and environmental restoration. Service Electric crews have worked as far north as Palatka, Florida, and as far south as the Everglades, including challenging environments requiring barge access and helicopter-supported operations in certain areas.
In 2024 alone, crews logged approximately 100,000 man-hours, set 366 poles, and pulled 172 miles of fiber. During the most recent phase completed in early 2026, approximately 40 Service Electric personnel were deployed to support the work.
The project is structured in phases, with teams mobilizing to complete sections within tight timeframes as they are released. Throughout each phase, crews have demonstrated the adaptability, coordination, and technical expertise required to execute work safely and efficiently in complex and often remote conditions.
As this 500kV program continues, Service Electric remains proud to contribute to a long-term effort that is strengthening one of the largest transmission systems in the country.
