Supporting data center growth in georgia

Scope

Service Electric crews built a new six-element 230kV ring bus substation in Georgia for a data center customer, taking the site from a bare dirt pad to a completed station in just months despite mid-construction redesigns, material delays, and frequent rain.

Service Electric crews constructed a new 230kV ring bus substation in Georgia, taking the project from a bare dirt pad to a completed station in just a matter of months. The original scope called for the entire station to be built in just six months, an aggressive schedule that became even more challenging when the station was re-engineered during construction to add a sixth element for a future transmission line.

The project brought together a crew made up largely of employees who had never worked together before, including several new crew members. Despite frequent rain, material delays, design changes, and a demanding schedule, the crew quickly came together, adapted to the challenges, and kept construction moving forward.
