testing one of america’s largest solar projects

Scope

Service Electric’s Technical Services team tested and commissioned 345kV and 34.5kV equipment at multiple substations supporting Bechtel’s Mammoth Solar development in Indiana, one of the largest solar projects in the U.S.

Service Electric’s Technical Services team completed comprehensive testing and commissioning work at multiple substations supporting the Mammoth Solar development in Indiana. Working as a subcontractor for Bechtel, the team helped verify that critical substation equipment had been fully tested and was ready for safe, reliable energization. Mammoth Solar is one of the largest solar projects in the United States and is expected to generate more than one gigawatt of renewable energy at full buildout, enough to power hundreds of thousands of homes.

The scope included testing and commissioning across 345kV and 34.5kV equipment, including high-voltage circuit breakers, transformers, switches, arresters, bus work, protection and control systems, and substation grounding systems. Each major component was tested and verified to confirm that the substations met performance and safety standards prior
to energization.

Projects of this scale demand precision, technical expertise, and a strong commitment to safety. Throughout the testing process, Service Electric crew members demonstrated the professionalism and attention to detail that define the Technical Services team. Their work helped bring one of the nation’s largest renewable energy projects online while reinforcing Service Electric’s reputation for delivering quality work on complex
high-voltage infrastructure.
