Live line work in Southern Indiana

Scope

Emergency repair to live 138kV lines to restore full functionality with minimal downtime.

This past spring, a critical switch needed emergency repairs in southern Indiana near North Vernon. The complexity of the task was significant, as it involved working with live 138 kV lines.

To prioritize safety, Nathan Neeley’s crew first removed the hot jumpers to create a clearance point, allowing them to continue their work without risk. Despite the high stakes and the need for careful coordination, the team successfully replaced all live parts within four hours, restoring the switch to full working condition.

This swift and efficient repair was made possible by our dedicated crew, including Nathan Neeley (Foreman), Willie Garrett (Lineman), Wyatt Nielson (Lineman), Bryan Adams (Lineman), Daryl Mathews (Lineman), Bryan Fisher (Heavy Equipment Operator), and Duke Reed (General Foreman). Their expertise and teamwork ensured that the job was completed safely and effectively, minimizing downtime and restoring power promptly.
