RELOCATING DISTRIBUTION LINES: FOR EAST TENNESSEE NATURAL GAS
Scope
Relocating 156 distribution poles to make way for a proposed pipeline.
Service Electric crews, led by Foreman Jake Lambert, are hard at work for Plateau Electric Cooperative, relocating distribution lines across Morgan and Scott counties in Tennessee, to support the Ridgeline Expansion Project for East Tennessee Natural Gas. This multi-month job involves relocating 156 distribution poles to make way for a proposed pipeline—an effort that spans rural areas and rugged terrain.
The pipeline itself is being developed to support TVA’s transition from coal to gas-fired generation at the Kingston Plant. The proposed project will stretch approximately 110 miles across multiple counties and provide up to 300 million cubic feet of natural gas per day to the Kingston facility. While Service Electric isn’t constructing the pipeline, our crews are playing a critical role by clearing the way and relocating the existing distribution infrastructure.
Crews are using a compact distribution fleet to tackle the project, including two 55-foot bucket trucks, a line truck, and pickups. Despite challenging conditions at times, the team has stayed agile, making steady progress while upholding Service Electric’s high standards for safety and quality.
The project is expected to wrap up in October, and so far, our crews have shown outstanding coordination and professionalism in partnership with Plateau Electric. As the job continues, Service Electric remains committed to delivering a smooth, successful execution.
