Blue Oval City

In the late summer of 2023, Service Electric was approached by Memphis-based engineering firm Fisher Arnold with a request for a quote. The firm was working on the largest private construction project in Tennessee’s history labeled the Blue Oval Site. Excited by the opportunity, Service Electric was honored to be awarded the project and began work in Spring 2024.

Our work at the site includes substation, overhead, and underground installations, with key tasks like assembling 124 steel poles, laying 28 miles of overhead conductor, managing six miles of underground conduit, and installing four miles of an underground conductor. Additionally, Service Electric was tasked with installing five fully automated G&W switch gears and five powerful 2,500 KVA transformers.

The Blue Oval Site — a 4,100-acre industrial park — is vast, but the electrical footprint is remarkably condensed. As Jay Jewel put it, it’s “lots of wire in a small amount of space.”

This project is part of Ford’s $5.6 billion investment in Haywood County, which will house their next-generation electric truck assembly plant and create 6,000 jobs. Working on this historic project has been a remarkable experience for Service Electric, and we look forward to future opportunities as West Tennessee continues to grow.
