Safety Internship
Service Electric Company is seeking summer Interns for our Safety Department. The Safety Internship will be a 10-week paid Summer Internship Program and will be run through Quanta Services.
What You’ll Do
The Safety Internship allows you the ability to gain hands-on safety experience. In this position, you will learn the basic principles of the industry and its applicable safety requirements, skills of effective safety management, and communication and relationship building behaviors with the goal of becoming a Safety Coordinator at one of our Operating Companies.
ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLS/DUTIES:
- Assist with development, implementation, and updating of required written safety, health, and environmental programs and plans.
- Coordinate, plan, and facilitate safety, health, and environmental training.
- Conduct risk assessments, maintain documentation, and review as needed
- Help develop controls for identified hazards and coordinate the implementation of controls from result of hazard analysis
- Maintain safety documentation including written programs, SDS’s, audits, training, incidents, and many others.
- Review incident investigation reports and participate in the incident investigation process as needed.
- Perform analysis and trending of safety statistics and metrics to proactively monitor safety performance.
- Plans, schedules, and executes other safety related projects.
What You’ll Bring
- Currently enrolled (or recently graduated) pursuing related degree
- Must be willing to travel to multiple job sites
- Humble; willing to do tasks that others might consider beneath them
- Hungry to be developed and passion to develop others
- Basic oral and written communication skills
- Familiarity with common word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, project management, e-mail software
- Self-starter with the ability to manage his / her time and resources
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building ability
- Ability to be flexible and maintain a positive attitude
- Determined and trustworthy
