Estimating Intern – Chattanooga, TN

POSITION SUMMARY

This position will support the Estimating Team in preparing cost estimates and bid proposals. The role offers hands-on experience in reviewing drawings, performing quantity take-offs, and coordinating with subcontractors to obtain pricing. These efforts contribute to the development of accurate and competitive bids

POSITION FUNCTIONS

  • Assist estimators in preparing cost estimates and bid proposals.
  • Perform quantity take-offs for materials and labor.
  • Contact subcontractors to request and collect pricing information.
  • Compile and organize subcontractor quotes for estimator review.
  • Participate in internal team meetings and bid reviews to gain exposure to the estimating process.
  • Receive RFQs from customers and enter them into the tracking system to manage bid due dates and pre-bid meetings.
  • Organize and maintain estimating files, drawings, and project documentation.
  • Follow up with subcontractors to ensure timely receipt of quotes.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma and current enrollment in a related college major required.
  • Preferred class standing: Junior or Senior.
  • Preferred majors: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Construction Management.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting drawings and specifications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent team player with the ability to work independently when needed.
  • Strong time management and task prioritization abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills for quantity take-offs and cost calculations.
