Responsibilities And Activities:

  • Assist Safety Department in administration, communication, and auditing of all safety policies and procedures established by Service Electric Company, OSHA, DOT, customer and other regulatory agencies.
  • Participates in routine jobsite visits.
  • Conducts safety assessment on crews during routine jobsite visits
  • Monitors safety regulations for recommendations in changes and revisions of Construction Safety Manual, contract specifications and other documents to assure compliance.
  • Facilitates in developing and conducting safety training programs for SEC personnel, including OSHA-related safety requirements
  • Facilitates new employee orientation training.
  • Assists accident/incident investigations and prepares written reports for Safety Manager.
  • Supports any and all field personnel in their job functions.

Job Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of health and safety plans.
  • Good judgment, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Minimum of 4-5 years of electrical construction/maintenance experience.
  • Any OSHA certificates / qualification training.
  • Conducts self in an appropriate manner as a representative of SEC, working effectively in a diverse work environment.
  • Must be self-motivated.
  • Must be able to listen to concerns of employees and be supportive in all aspects of safety.
  • Demonstrates leadership to employees so that they may follow company safety expectations

Field Mechanic, Florida  

  • Need one Florida based and one Indiana based field mechanic.
  • Applicant must possess hydraulic, electrical and mechanical skills on various brands of bucket trucks, line trucks and crane trucks

Construction Linemen, Tennessee

The Southeastern Line Constructors Chapter, NECA and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and Local Unions in the 10th District (Arkansas, Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina) have adopted a construction lineman (CL) classification. This classification provides a career path for line workers who have a minimum 5000 hours of previous experience performing the duties of a lineman to become IBEW Journeyman Linemen.

Apprentice Substation Technicians & Apprentice Underground Technicians:

Service Electric Company is a participant in the NECA/IBEW Southeastern Line Constructors Apprenticeship and Training Program (SELCAT). This program provides on the job and classroom training for employees to become Journeymen Linemen, Journeymen Substation Techs and Journeymen URD Techs.

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

Transformer Technician position:

  • High / Medium / Low voltage testing of electrical power equipment.
  • Consult manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams and engineering personnel in order to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems and determine optimum equipment functioning.
  • Prepare and maintain reports detailing all tests, repairs, and maintenance performed.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, replace and clean equipment and components in a substation.
  • 3+ years of hands on experience High, Medium and Low voltage testing of electrical power equipment.
  • Knowledge of the following equipment:
    • Circuit Breakers, LV/MV/HV
    • Transformers
    • Switchgear
    • Motors
    • PT's
    • CCVT's
  • Experience with the following test equipment:
    • Power Factor
    • Ductor
    • Megger
    • CT ration & saturation
    • Hi-Pot
  • Highly motivated self-starter with desire to learn
  • NETA certified a plus, but not required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelors or Associates Degree in Electrical/Electronic technology, or Military experience preferred but not required.
Additional Requirements:

  • Able to work overtime and travel out of town for periods of time.
  • Able to climb ladders, stand for extended periods, able to lift 70 lbs.

  • Perform installation, commissioning, testing and maintenance of protective relaying equipment.
  • Perform function testing of substation control circuits on relay panel, transformers & circuit breaker change-outs.
  • Perform end-to-end relay testing using Doble ProTest software or Protection Suite.
  • Develop written standard commissioning, testing and maintenance procedures for protective relaying.
  • 3+ years of hands on experience installing, maintaining, testing & repairing protective relays on high voltage substations.
  • Calibrate & perform functional tests on both electromechanical and micro-processor based protective relays for high voltage substations.
  • Experience installing, maintaining, testing, & repairing circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, and similar equipment.
  • Capable of trouble shooting distribution and transmission controls circuits
  • Knowledge of Doble ProTest or Protection Suite desired.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
